Finally got the old CB750 out for its first real ride after the rebuild - MotoMike - 10-12-2026 So after about 8 months of wrenching on this 78 CB750 I picked up for 600 bucks, I finally took it out for a proper 60 mile loop today. New pistons, rings, rebuilt carbs, fresh tires, the whole deal. I was nervous as hell honestly. First 10 miles I kept waiting for something to let go but she just hummed along. Carbs are still a touch rich down low so I'll fiddle with the mixture screws this weekend. But man, hitting an empty backroad and winding it out to 6k in third, that old inline four just sings. You forget how raw these old bikes feel compared to modern stuff. No abs, no rider modes, just you and the machine. Got home, checked for leaks, not a drop. Pretty stoked. Anyone else running a sohc four? What are you using for jetting at sea level? |
