The Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj (AQ20) is a 20-player raid instance (reduced to 10 players in later versions) located in Silithus, and was released in Phase 5 of World of Warcraft Classic. It serves as an introductory raid to the tougher Temple of Ahn'Qiraj (AQ40), where players face the Old God C'Thun.

Reaching the Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj

To get to the entrance of AQ20, follow the main road through Silithus. If you have the flight path for Cenarion Hold, fly there and head south. If not, go to Silithus via the northwest path out of Un’Goro Crater, which can be accessed from Tanaris. Enter the first entrance you see in Ahn'Qiraj; the other leads to the Temple of Ahn'Qiraj.

Before entering either raid in Ahn'Qiraj, your server needs to complete the War Effort and Scepter of the Shifting Sands questline to remove the Scarab Wall.

Instance Overview

AQ20 is similar to Zul'Gurub in terms of raid size and difficulty, and it also features a token system. The instance is considered an outdoor area. After killing the second boss, General Rajaxx, you can head straight to the final boss, Ossirian, or clear the optional bosses.

Navigation

After entering the raid, there is only one path forward until the second boss, General Rajaxx, is defeated. After that, you can choose to fight the optional bosses or head straight to Ossirian.

Efficient path: Kurinnaxx > Rajaxx > Ossirian

Full clear: Kurinnaxx > Rajaxx > Moam > Buru > Ayamiss > Ossirian

Boss Strategies

General Rajaxx After killing waves of adds, General Rajaxx will appear. Rajaxx uses Disarm on the tank and Thundercrash, which knocks the raid backwards but also reduces threat.

Ossirian the Unscarred Ossirian must be tanked by dragging him to new crystals when one is about to fade to keep him debuffed, and threat must be manually built because the boss is immune to taunts. A mage can use Blink to quickly activate crystals. Ossirian will cast Enveloping Winds, stunning the tank for 10 seconds, which can be avoided with a Free Action Potion. Tornadoes will also appear throughout the room.

Beyond the thrill of conquering AQ20 and gearing up your character, many players also find value in optimizing their in-game economy. Accumulating WoW Gold Classic can significantly enhance your raiding experience, allowing you to purchase essential consumables like potions and flasks, as well as acquire powerful gear from other players. While skill and strategy are paramount in overcoming the challenges within AQ20, having a healthy supply of gold can provide a competitive edge and ensure you are fully prepared for each encounter.

Speaking of preparation, securing enough WoW Gold extends beyond just raiding. Whether you're leveling up alternative characters, investing in professions, or simply enjoying the social aspects of the game, having a steady income of gold can make all the difference. Many players explore various methods to bolster their gold reserves, from efficient farming routes to smart auction house trading. Mastering these techniques can not only improve your raiding performance but also enrich your overall gameplay experience in World of Warcraft Classic.

Raid Composition

AQ20 is less strict than AQ40, so you can complete it with almost any raid composition. An optimal setup includes:

5 Warriors (1 tank, 2+ off-tanks)

2 Rogues

3 Mages

3 Warlocks

1 Hunter

2 Holy Paladins / 2 Restoration Shamans

3 Priests (all healers)

1 Restoration Druid

Ranged DPS, especially Warlocks and Priests, are useful for some fights, such as Moam.
