Been wrenching on bikes for 15+ years and I keep getting asked this one by newer riders. Figured I'd throw it out to the group since I'm curious what owners actually think. On paper the Versys 650 has more grunt, that 649cc parallel twin pulls noticeably harder up top and the adjustable suspension is a genuine step up if you're heavier or carry luggage. But the CB500X is lighter, feels more flickable in town and the valve service intervals are easier to live with. From a maintenance standpoint the Honda is a bit simpler to work on, though nothing on either is a nightmare. I've torn into both engines and honestly the Kawasaki needs a bit more attention on the cam chain side long term. So what's the verdict from people who actually ride them daily? I care less about spec sheet numbers and more about what annoys you after 20k miles.
